Summary
This stylized eye material combines many different styles into a single template material with a variety of customizable and animatable features. It supports humanoid and animal characters and even comes with a custom settings for cat shaped pupils.
Using a refraction and depth function the eyes give the appearance of a 3D interior without requiring any special mesh setup or additional polygons. You are able to choose between an almost fully procedural approach using minimal textures which is completely configurable in the editor or directly use a full color texture for the iris, while still retaining all the other configuration options available. Every variant of the material supports animating the pupil in real time with everything else adjusting appropriately. Especially when using a procedural setup, the material allows for extreme closeups without any pixelation, making it a great choice for animations and cutscenes.
The material is ready to be customized using many parameters and already comes with textures to choose from for your own unique designs. If you’re not sure where to start or are looking for some inspiration there are many sample Material Instances which can be used immediately in your own projects or further tweaked for your individual needs.
Important Notice:
For the depth effect to work each eye needs to be its own separate static mesh. If you are having issues or are unsure about how this works, please take a look at the documentation linked at the top or the tutorial video.
